Hempfield Area Food Pantry

On a fixed budget and worried about how you’ll feed your family? You may be able to receive help at Hempfield’s Food Pantry which operates Mondays & Wednesdays here at Zion. Open from 10 AM – 1 PM, clients get to choose staples that help stretch a tight food budget. To see if you qualify for this program please call (717) 898-2954. (The food pantry is closed when a holiday falls on a Monday or Wednesday or when inclement weather closes the Hempfield school district during the school year.)

The Hempfield Area Food Pantry serves only those that live within the Hempfield School District. Families and individuals qualify to become clients by using the income guidelines of the Central PA Food Bank which is re-issued every June. Clients must provide valid photo ID with current address each visit.

Clients may get food from the pantry once per week. Items vary from week to week. Clients are given a choice of food items they wish to receive. If your family does not like peas, you can choose another vegetable that you or your family will enjoy, so that food does not go to waste. In addition, we also will take consideration with our food distribution if you have special dietary needs.  .

Joyful Noise Offerings

Every Sunday, we receive a special “Joyful Noise Offering” for a local helping organization or current emergency need. The offering of spare change is taken up in small tin buckets that cling and clang with a joyful noise as they are passed from pew to pew.  With this noise, we are reminded that “God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Joyful Noise Offerings have benefited local organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Anchor Lancaster, Night to Shine, Bethany Christian Services, Milagro House, Clare House, Pet Pantry of Lancaster, Holiday of Hope, Christ’s Home for Children, various disaster relief needs, families in need who live in the area, etc.
